現状の海洋環境に関して
・Current state of the marine environment
Marine plastic litter is a big problem all over the world.
It is estimated that about 8 million tons are generated annually worldwide, and 20,000 to 60,000 tons are generated in Japan.
In addition, among the marine litter (man-made objects) washed ashore in Japan,
Fishing nets and ropes account for 2.60% on a volume basis. (2016, Ministry of the Environment, Investigation of drifting litter at 10 locations in Japan)
These plastic wastes flowing into the sea are not only polluting the sea,
It also has a significant impact on marine ecosystems.
If this situation continues, the sustainable relationship between the marine environment and humans will collapse.

That is the bag made from recycled fishing nets that Toyooka Kaban is working on.
"Product for the Blue" is a concept that utilizes discarded recycled fishing net fabric,
Recycle to add value and reborn as a product.”
This is one of the initiatives of ALLIANCE FOR THE BLUE.

・What is the material of the fishing net?
Utilizing discarded fishing nets collected in the eastern Hokkaido area,
Recycled pellets, which are used as raw materials, are manufactured after sorting and cleaning waste.
By using fabric woven with regenerated fishing net REAMIDE fiber,
We will solve social issues with a new style that considers environmental friendliness.
